About Ano Mera

The second largest town on the island is situated 7.5km east of Chora. Ano Mera, a farming village not so long ago, has recently been refurbished, with new shops, restaurants and hotels opening to attract visitors looking to escape the hopping coastal areas. The place has more of a community feeling with schools and playgrounds all surrounding the area's main square. The little white houses are simple and pleasant and there are many cafes on the stone-paved square to enjoy a quiet afternoon.
