About Library
Over 8,000 volumes are housed in an 18th century mansion on Ayia Kyriaki Square in Chora. The library also contains a vast collection of 18th and 19th century photographs, documents and Cycladic coins and old seals as well as sketches and books from the personal library of the American artist John Ratekin.
The library is a small, charming space, really only two large rooms, and all the walls are lined with dark wooden shelves. There are chairs laid out to sit and read and the lady who runs the place is very friendly, knowledgeable and is willing to share many exciting facts.
